Married Life
January 19th, 2010
Since getting married on Dec 19 last year, the No. 1 question that people never fail to ask when they meet me would be: “So, how’s married life?”.
My answer to this question is always so: No difference, in fact, it’s better! It’s better because my now husband can now cuddle me to sleep instead of taking a cab back to his home, better because we can now head home together after work instead of going our separate way, better because I get to see him before I close my eyes and when I wake up, better because it’s warmer at night with him around (body heat) so I wouldn’t wake up in the middle of the night to sneeze… I can never end!
Of course there are some getting used to as well, such as having a new set of parents, having to call my in-laws “Ma” and “Pa” instead of “Auntie” and “Uncle” which comes out of my mouth so naturally, being upgraded to the next level, giving kids a struggle to decide which to call us, “Jie jie” or “Auntie” – I’d say stick to “Jie Jie” of course, and sharing my bedroom (meant for 1 person) with my husband which takes up quite a bit of space (Yes, we are still hoping for a place of our own but HDB is not helping us with our balloting)!
However, I’d say that all in all, it’s awesome being married. Having someone by your side, whom you love, sharing your joys, pains and burdens, and encouraging you to pursue your dreams. Tim, my husband is such a person, and thanks to him, I have decided to take the plunge to pursue my dreams, working towards having a physical store of my very own. You would have guessed, I resigned at my current job! It was a difficult choice, as this would mean abandoning a constant pay for an uncertain one, or even zero pay, but it is now or never for me, so NOW it is.
For you, who is currently reading this, this would also mean that in the coming months, I will have more time to source for more apparels and make more accessories while planning for a real store. This is a really exciting time in my life and I hope that all of you will give me your support going forward.
